Why Use a PCV Fix Kit?

It's Cheaper

Dealing with the intake manifold check valve can be costly. Dealerships can charge upwards of $300 for the part alone, and aftermarket replacements cost around $140-$160. The PCV Fix Kit comes in at $75 - a substantial savings over a replacement manifold.

It's Easier

The V3.4+ PCV Fix Kit, our most popular solution, is installed without removing the intake manifold - eliminating 1-2 hours of work-  and requires no special tools or sockets.

It's Better

The OEM design uses a guaranteed-to-fail check valve located inside the intake manifold. Even aftermarket options, which claim an improvement over the OEM design, simply place a pin behind the check valve; a mere bandaid to a flawed design that is still prone to cracking, leaking, sticking, and clogging. The CruzeKits V3.4 PCV Fix Kit uses a number of custom made parts and countless hours of R&D to upgrade the PCV system, resolve the issue, and make the check valve serviceable in under 5 minutes with simple pliers.

It's Durable

Our PCV fix kits are known for durability. The V1 and V2.1 kits use a robust brass check valve that has been reported reliable for 80,000-120,000 miles between cleanings. The V3.4+ PCV Fix Kit, with a custom built check valve featuring Viton internals hasn't had a failed check valve reported yet, and the kit comes with a spare if you ever need one!

It's Proven

With over 5 years of proven reliability and regular improvements, the PCV Fix Kits have stood the test of time, temperature, and abuse. They're designed to be an improvement and upgrade over the OEM design, while retaining OEM PCV functions and emissions controls.

Can't I Just Make My Own Kit?

We get this question a lot, so it deserves its own section. "Can't I just go to AutoZone and make my own kit?"

Short answer...no.

Long answer:

You can't actually get these parts locally. With respect to the V3.4 kit:

  • The clamps are custom made and dacromet coated to match the OEM clamps you'll find in your engine bay already, correctly sized for constant tension at any temperature.
  • The T fitting is custom nylon injection molded for CruzeKits.com and can't be found anywhere else. It is designed with an angled barb to ensure the check valve can be mounted at an angle to prevent accumulation of condensation (which can freeze in northern climates), or PCV deposits.
  • The specific PCV hose we use is quality checked and chosen after testing all other options to ensure it won't collapse under vacuum and will be compatible with PCV gas, oil vapor, condensation, and fuel vapor.
  • The check valves are custom made to our spec with genuine Viton plungers and can't be found elsewhere (Amazon/Ebay options use a cheap knockoff flourorubber).
  • The specific epoxy was chosen after consulting with Henkel/Loctite engineers at both industrial and consumer adhesives divisions, and the advisory of JB Weld's VP of Technical Development.

There's more to the design than what meets the eye. There's a great deal of thought and engineering that went into the kit to make it as simple, easy to install, and reliable as possible. The specific length of the hoses and mounting of the rubberized clamp, for example, are important. The angle on the T fitting and the orientation of the check valve to allow it to drain fluids is important. The crack pressure on the check valve, as well as the plunger material and sealing surface are VERY important. These are just some of the many techncial considerations that were used to design this kit.
